In celebration of 50 years of marriage (my parents’ marriage – not mine) my family took a seven-day cruise through southern Alaska’s inner passage and
Glacier Bay aboard Holland America’s
MS Eurodam. As is the case everywhere around the globe, climate change has had real effect here and all glaciers are now receding. I feel incredibly fortunate to have visited while they
still exist. Other stops during the Seattle-based cruise included Victoria, Ketchikan, Sitka, and Juneau (including a trip by float plane to Taku Lodge where we grabbed an excellent salmon lunch and met Lois – a bear with an interest in the salmon droppings from the grill).
